"The house has always served the community"

-Sylvia Dulaney (1980)

Since the construction of the house by Daniel Striker, The Striker House has been a landmark for the community of Hastings. In the 1880's and early 1900's it hosted elaborate parties, celebrations, and important members of society who visited the area. Later it became the first hospital to serve Hastings, then a convalescent home for the elderly. It served as a real estate office, and has been envisioned by many as a bed and breakfast, museum, apartments, or an elegant restaurant.

Today, it has been severely neglected and left to the mercy of the elements. Our vision is to restore The Striker House to it's former glory as "the handsomest residence of Hastings" and allow it to serve it's community once again. The reality of achieving that is no different today than in 1980. As Marquita Meisenback said, "It's going to take federal, state, and community funds to restore the house. It's too much for one person." This is what inspired us to establish the Daniel Striker House nonprofit. We ask you, our community, to aid in our mission to preserve Hastings' irreplaceable historic landmark, The Striker House.
